Floriatan Santos Costa

Born in Guanambi (Bahia, Brazil), Floriatan Santos Costa has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain) since 2026 and at the Department of Chemistry of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR, Brazil) since 2024, with a CAPES fellowship. In 2024 he also held a postdoctoral position at Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation), funded by CNPq.

He holds a teaching degree in Chemistry from IF Baiano (2016), an MSc in Chemistry from the State University of Santa Cruz (2019) and a PhD in Chemistry from UFPR (2023). His thesis, on deep eutectic solvents applied to the development of methods for elemental determination, received the Best Thesis Award of the UFPR Graduate Program in Chemistry (PPGQ) — 2024 Graduate Academic Excellence Award.

His research focuses on sample preparation with alternative solvents, the development of microextraction and speciation methods, chemometrics and sustainability metrics for analytical methods, with elemental determination by atomic spectrometry techniques. He is an affiliated member of the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) and of the EuChemS Sample Preparation Study Group and Network, and serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals.
